Fresh New Fruit Landscaping installed a native garden and drainage improvements in Oceanside, CA, in November 2025.
Site Conditions
The project area included a 500-square-foot grass area slated for redevelopment. Existing lantana bushes were growing in the front area. The irrigation system had a faulty solenoid, and a downspout was discharging toward a concrete sidewalk.
Problem
The homeowner wanted a new planted area, a broken irrigation line repaired, and downspout water carried away from the walkway.
What We Did
We removed the grass, hauled away the trash, and removed the existing lantana bushes from the front. The soil was amended with premium and recycled amendments. We upgraded the irrigation, repaired the irrigation break, and installed 20 one-gallon plants and 4 five-gallon plants with mulch and staples. A drainage pipe was installed from the downspout under the sidewalk to the native garden area.
Materials used included:
Drip irrigation
Weed fabric
Mulch
Plants
Result
The homeowner was happy with the results.
